Suspect has been arrested.

Around 6pm this evening deputies received a call in reference to a stolen vehicle from the roper area that was stolen by the same suspect from the earlier chase.

Deputies spotted the vehicle on Mackeys Rd and the suspect fled onto NC 45 towards Bertie county. The suspect drove at high speeds through Bertie Co and crashed near the US 17 Intersection. Deputies then apprehended the suspect.

The suspect pictured was involved in a chase with Plymouth PD and Washington County Sheirffs Office earlier today. During the chase he turned around heading into oncoming traffic on US 64 at that time he hit a responding Deputy head on and fled on foot into the woods. The deputy sustained major injuries as a result.

Also if you live In Roper area keep an eye out he may still be in the area.

Suspects name Anthony Ralph Jackson his birthdate is 08/06/1996

He is the suspect who hit the deputy head on earlier.

Great job officers.

This week Beaufort County Crime Stoppers is asking for your help in solving an assault and attempted robbery along with multiple vehicle breaking and enterings in the same area. On Tuesday morning, July 14, 2020 at approximately 05:20 hours, officers with the Washington Police Department responded to the 400 block of E. Water Street in reference to a report of an individual assaulted. Upon arrival officers determined the victim had been struck with a weapon causing injuries which required medical attention. Based on information gathered at the scene it is believed the victim was the target of an attempted robbery. The victim was treated and released from Vidant Beaufort for his injuries. In addition to the assault that occurred in the 400 block of Water Street two additional incidents (one breaking and entering of motor vehicle that resulted in the theft of a lab top and one attempted breaking and entering of a motor vehicle) have been reported in the area. The additional incidents occurred in the 100 block of Harvey Street and the 300 block of E. Main Street. In a video, the suspects walked up on the porch of a residence. Washington Police Department investigators are actively following leads related to this case. The investigation is ongoing. Washington Police Officers are contacting residents in the area to locate personnel home cameras to obtain further descriptions of the suspect. The Washington Police Department would like to remind everyone to remove valuables from vehicles and make sure vehicles are locked.

The two suspects are described as
African-American males
18-22 years of age
5’10” – 6’, 160 lbs.
The subjects were clothed in dark hooded sweatshirts.
