On March 8, 2016 at 12:53 PM, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a bomb threat at Washington High School located on Slatestone Road in Washington.  The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office takes all threats directed toward the public, businesses, and educational facilities seriously.

Washington Fire/Rescue/EMS, Beaufort County Emergency Management, the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, and Washington Police Department responded to the school to assist the Sheriff’s Office with a search of the school after all the students and faculty were evacuated.

Although the investigation is ongoing, interviews and searches have been conducted and at this time the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office has not found any credible threat to Washington High School or any other school in Beaufort County.
