On October 09, 2016 the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received a report of Breaking &Entering and Larceny from Captain Bucks Mini Mart (Formerly Clarks Mini Mart), Hwy 264 E., Pantego, in Beaufort County. Deputies learned, that during Hurricane Matthew, a brick was thrown through the front window of the store and U.S. Currency, numerous cartons of cigarettes, assorted knives, assorted lighters, T-shirts, and blunt wrappers were taken.

After the story was featured on Crime Stoppers, Beaufort County Sheriff’s investigators received numerous tips which led to the suspects and helped in obtaining a search warrant in this case. During the service of that search warrant numerous items from the store were located and recovered.

After conducting interviews of both suspects, Investigator Jeremy Landeck applied for and obtained warrants charging Elijah Lee Spencer, age 16, of Hwy 264 E., Belhaven, with one count of Breaking and Entering, one count of Larceny After Breaking & Entering, one count of Injury To Personal Property, and one count of Trespassing During  a State of Emergency.  Jacob Carlos Williams, age 18, of Hwy 264 E, Belhaven, was also charged with three counts of Breaking and Entering, three counts of Larceny After Breaking & Entering, one count of Injury To Personal Property, and one count of Trespassing During a State of Emergency. 

On October 26, 2016 Spencer was arrested during the service of the search warrant. He was transported to the Magistrates Office where he was served with the warrants and received a $7,500.00 secured bond and placed in the BCDC.

On October 27, 2016 Williams turned himself in to the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office. He was transported to the Magistrates Office where he was served with the warrants and received a $7,500.00 secured bond and placed in the BCDC.
