On 02/25/2021, Investigators with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit arrested Rumeal Peele, 26 years of age, of 240 E. Old County Road in Belhaven.  Peele was charged with Trafficking in Opiates by Possession, Trafficking in Opiates by Transportation, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of Firearm on Educational Property and Carrying a Concealed Gun.

Peele’s arrest stemmed from Investigators receiving information that Peele was involved in the use and distribution of drugs.  Investigators conducted surveillance on Peele and learned that Peele was carrying a pistol in his waist band.  Investigators followed Peele from a residence in Belhaven reported to be involved in drug distribution to the parking lot of North Side High School.

Investigators conducted a traffic stop on Peele in the parking lot of Northside High School.  Investigators searched Peele and the vehicle.  Investigators found 50 oxycodone pills, a Taurus 9mm pistol and snorting straws with white residue.

Peele was detained in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $125,000.00 secured bond.
