On June 6, 2023, Investigators with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit arrested David Ray Brinkley Jr., 29 years of age, of Blounts Creek, NC. Keyes was charged with one count of Level One Trafficking in Opiates and one count of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
The arrest stemmed from Investigators in the Drug Unit conducting a controlled purchase of counterfeit Oxycodone pills from Brinkley that actually contain Fentanyl. Fentanyl, in pill and in powder form, is the leading cause of overdose deaths in Beaufort County.
Brinkley was confined in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $75,000 secured bond.
