On January 26, 2024, Deputies with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office along with K-9 Tinnus arrested Desmond Trieke Gorham on multiple drugs and weapons charges. This arrest stemmed from Deputies and one of the K-9 teams conducting a search warrant at Gorham’s residence in Washington, NC.

As a result of this investigation, Deputies seized over 8 grams of powdered fentanyl and fentanyl pills and recovered two stolen handguns.

Desmond Trieke Gorham is held in the Beaufort County Detention Center under No Bond for the following charges:

Two counts of Trafficking Schedule II (Fentanyl)

One count of Possession with the Intent to Sale and Deliver Schedule II (Fentanyl)

One count of Possession of a Stolen Firearm

One count of Possession with the Intent to Sale and Deliver Controlled Substance within 1,000 feet of a School

According to the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), 2 milligrams of fentanyl is considered to be a lethal dose. This seizure by Deputies and K-9 Tinnus is enough fentanyl to potentially kill over 4,000 people. A cumulative total of 22 grams of fentanyl has been seized by the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office so far this year.
