On November 1, 2014 at approximately 3:20 a.m., Deputy Zach Martin of the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office was patrolling the area of Highway 264 West in Washington. Deputy Martin observed a vehicle being operated with improper equipment and conducted a traffic stop near Tranters Creek Road. Martin made contact with the driver and immediately smelled an odor of burnt marijuana coming from within the vehicle.

Deputy Martin conducted a search of the vehicle and the occupants. Martin recovered a bag containing two ounces of marijuana, a marijuana blunt and a marijuana grinder. As a result, Martin arrested Mack Ray Jennette, age 39 of Bridgewood Square in Belhaven, and charged him with Possession With Intent to Sell and Deliver Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Jennette was held in the Beaufort County Detention Center on a $24,000.00 secured bond issued by Magistrate Donald Sadler.
