On 08-03-2017, Investigators with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit arrested James Darnelle Freeman, 27 years of age, of 601 W. 9th Street in Washington.  Freeman was charged with Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver Crack Cocaine and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Freemans arrest stemmed from Investigators receiving information that Freeman is involved in the distribution of crack cocaine and Freeman uses a residence on Charlie Lane in Chocowinity to manufacture and package crack cocaine.

Investigators conducted surveillance on Freeman and witnessed Freeman travel to Xavier Ore’s residence located at 58 Charlie Lane in Chocowinity.  Freeman departed from the residence and Investigators conducted a traffic stop.  Investigators searched Freeman and found approximately 13 grams of crack cocaine hidden in his underwear. Freeman was confined in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $25,000.00 secured bond.

Investigators returned to 58 Charlie Lane and executed a Search Warrant.  Investigators found digital scales with cocaine residue, plastic bags used to package crack cocaine, metal cookware containing cocaine residue and $2,370.00 in US currency.

Investigators obtained an additional warrant on Freeman for Manufacturing Crack Cocaine and warrants on Ore for Manufacturing Crack Cocaine, Maintaining a Dwelling for Manufacturing Crack Cocaine, Possession of Crack Cocaine and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
