The Support Services Division ensures the Sheriff’s Office operates safely, efficiently, and professionally behind the scenes. Our civilian and sworn personnel perform essential functions that provide deputies and investigators with the resources they need to focus on protecting and serving the public.
Court Services Unit
-
Provides security and maintains order in all courtrooms and throughout the Beaufort County Courthouse

Ensures the safety of judges, court staff, jurors, and the public

Serves as bailiffs, assisting judges with courtroom logistics and coordinating with clerks, prosecutors, and defense counsel
-
Safely transports inmates from the Detention Center and correctional facilities across North Carolina for court appearances and court-ordered mental health evaluations
Civil Process Unit
The Civil Process Unit fulfills the Sheriff’s statutory duty to serve legal papers and execute court orders originating from courts and attorneys across North Carolina and the United States, including:

Civil summons and subpoenas

Claim & delivery actions

Writs of possession (real and personal property)

Civil arrest orders
-
Writs of execution (money judgments)

Child custody orders

Logistics & Technology Unit

Manages fleet maintenance, vehicle purchasing, and equipment inventory

Oversees the agency’s entire information technology infrastructure: computers, email, servers, body-worn cameras, in-car video systems, and 911 recording systems

Ensures our technology and equipment remain operational 24/7 so deputies and dispatchers never miss a beat
