Bridge Closure of the Blounts Creek Bridge
The N.C. Department of Transportation will close a Beaufort County bridge for maintenance beginning Tuesday. The bridge over Blounts Creek on Mouth of the Creek Road will close for about two weeks while crews conduct priority maintenance to ensure the safety and reliability of the structure. The road is expected to reopen March 6, weather permitting. During the closure, local traffic can detour via Clay Bottom School Road to N.C. 33 to Herring Run Road to Maules Point Road.

Washington Man Arrested on Felony Drug and Gun Charge

Belhaven Man Arrested in Connection to Arson
On February 1, 2026, Deputies with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office responded to a structure fire near the intersection of NC Highway 99 South and Marslender Road in Belhaven. Update on Road Conditions in Beaufort County
Winter weather doesn’t end when the snowfall stops. In fact, some of the most dangerous driving conditions appear after the snow has cleared, when roads look passable but remain unpredictable and hazardous. The North Carolina Department of Transportation continues to clear the roadways in Beaufort County. Primary roadways, such as US17, US264, and NC33 have greatly improved.
