Students learned how fingerprints are collected, the different fingerprint patterns, and how detectives use this important forensic tool to help solve crimes. On July 17th, 2026, members of the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit arrested 38-year-old Tyshawn Laron Mann of Englehard, NC, for drug trafficking and other drug-related offenses. On July 24th, 2026, 32-year-old Dashauntis Tyrell Chase of Belhaven, NC, turned himself in to the Pitt County Sheriff’s Office. On June 22, 2026, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received a report of possible animal remains discovered while the Chocowinity Fire Department was extinguishing a brush fire at a residential property on U.S. Highway 17 South in Chocowinity.
