Detention Center
The fee for a new permit is $90, while renewing an existing permit costs $75. Please be aware that all permit fees are non-refundable. If you decide to apply online, there will be an additional convenience fee of $7.94 charged by our vendor (this fee does not go to the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office). Veterans can benefit from our discount, which reduces the cost to $55 for a new permit and $40 for a renewal.

The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office does not provide criminal background checks directly to the public. To obtain an official background check, please contact the Beaufort County Clerk of Court and request a criminal records search.
