Scam Alert: Online Rental Property Scam

We are receiving reports of a social media scam involving real estate and property rentals. In these cases, scammers are posing as real estate agencies, property managers, or rental representatives and collecting application fees, deposits, or other payments from prospective renters.

If you are searching for a property online, we strongly recommend verifying the listing before sending any money. You can do this by contacting the real estate agency or property management company the individual claims to represent and scheduling an appointment directly with that organization.

Be cautious of individuals who request payment through cash apps, wire transfers, gift cards, or other non-traditional payment methods.
