About the event
Beaufort County Public Works – Solid Waste Division will host a free Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event to help residents safely dispose of hazardous items that do not belong in regular household trash. This is a convenient way to clear out old chemicals and problem items while protecting your family, sanitation workers, and our local environment.
Residents can bring common household hazardous materials such as cleaners, solvents, pesticides, herbicides, pool chemicals, gasoline, fuels, oil‑based paints, and similar items for safe handling and disposal. Commercial waste, explosives and flares, radioactive materials (such as smoke detectors), biological waste, and motor oil or filters will not be accepted at this event.
To keep the process safe and efficient, participants must remain in their vehicles while event staff unloads items. Items should be in their original containers or clearly labeled, and proof of Beaufort County residency (driver’s license or utility bill) will be required at check‑in. Contractors and businesses are not permitted to bring materials for disposal.
