About the event

The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office invites you to “The Gang Symposium,” a focused, full‑day learning and discussion event on gang activity and youth violence in our community. Hosted at Washington High School, this symposium brings together law enforcement, school personnel, community leaders, and families to share real‑world information, warning signs, and practical strategies to keep our youth safe.
Throughout the day, participants will hear from subject‑matter experts on local gang trends, recruitment tactics, social media influences, and how gangs impact schools and neighborhoods. Sessions will also cover how to recognize risk factors, how to talk with young people about gangs, and what resources are available in Beaufort County for intervention and prevention.
This event is designed for parents and guardians, educators, youth‑serving professionals, faith leaders, and anyone concerned about the safety and well-being of our community’s children. Attendees will have opportunities to ask questions, connect with resource providers, and leave with practical tools they can use right away.
