Sheriff Scott Hammonds, along with Corporal Macy Kelly and Corporal Riley Davis, proudly graduated 331 students from the D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) program at John Small Elementary, Bath Elementary School, Northeast Elementary, and Chocowinity Middle School.
The D.A.R.E. program plays a vital role in educating students about making safe and responsible choices, building confidence, and developing the skills needed to resist drugs, violence, and negative peer pressure. Through open discussion, trust, and positive relationships with law enforcement, students gain tools that will benefit them well beyond the classroom.
Sheriff Hammonds and the staff of the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office are especially thankful to the administrators, teachers, and staff at each of the participating Beaufort County Schools for allowing us the opportunity to teach this important program. Their continued partnership and support make it possible to invest in our youth and strengthen the bond between our schools, our community, and local law enforcement. Together, we are helping shape a safer, healthier future for Beaufort County’s students.
