Beaufort County Fugitive Captured

On July 6, 2026, Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office along with members of the NC SBI Criminal Apprehension Team, located and apprehended 39-year-old Leslie Michael Kitchengs in the Long Acre Area.
Kitchengs failed to report to the Beaufort County Detention Center as ordered by the court to serve an active sentence on June 1, 2026.
The crimes for his active sentence included:
Crime of Domestic Violence
Breaking and Entering to Terrorize
Larceny of a Firearm
Possession of a Firearm by a Felon
Injury to Real Property
Injury to Personal Property
Interfering with Emergency Communications
In addition, Kitchengs was served with a Child Support Warrant issued out of Martin County.
