Suspicious Vehicle Call Leads to Arrest of Suspect in 8 Felony Cases

On January 10, 2026, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office responded to a larceny at Saint John Free Will Baptist Church in Blounts Creek. Deputies learned the church’s air-conditioning unit was stolen.
On January 14, 2026, deputies responded to Saint Matthew's Free Will Baptist Church Aurora in reference to larceny and property damage. Deputies learned the church’s air-conditioning unit was damaged and the copper components were removed. The church’s electrical panel box was also removed from the side of the building and wiring was missing. A copper gas line connected to an L/P tank was also cut and stolen.
Deputies responded to an additional call on January 14, 2026, where a business owner in Blounts Creek reported the theft of an air-conditioning unit from a vacant commercial property.
On January 17, 2026, patrol deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle call on Mary’s Chapel Church Road. Deputies located an unoccupied pickup truck containing a large quantity of electrical wire in the truck bed. Due to the recent series of larcenies, detectives seized the vehicle and later executed a search warrant.
Evidence recovered from the search warrant led detectives to several additional breaking-and-entering incidents within the Blounts Creek, Edward, and Aurora communities.
As a result of the investigation, 38-year-old Christopher Lee Wilson of Aurora was charged with the following offenses:
• Six counts of Felony Breaking and Entering
• Three counts of Felony Larceny
• Five counts of Larceny After Breaking and Entering
• One count of Injury to Personal Property
• One count of Possession of Fentanyl
• One count of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
Wilson is currently being held in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $150,000 secured bond.
