Bridge Closure of the Blounts Creek Bridge

The N.C. Department of Transportation will close a Beaufort County bridge for maintenance beginning Tuesday.

The bridge over Blounts Creek on Mouth of the Creek Road will close for about two weeks while crews conduct priority maintenance to ensure the safety and reliability of the structure. The road is expected to reopen March 6, weather permitting.

During the closure, local traffic can detour via Clay Bottom School Road to N.C. 33 to Herring Run Road to Maules Point Road.

Motorists should use caution when traveling near the area and seek alternate routes to avoid delays.

NCDOT is constructing a new bridge over Blounts Creek, south of the existing structure, following a contract awarded last fall. Drivers continue to use the current bridge during construction.

For real-time travel information, visit DriveNC.gov or follow NCDOT on social media.
